Mammoth Ivory Can date anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000 years old depending on the specific piece. It comes from the tusks of extinct woolly mammoths, which roamed the Earth during the Ice Age!
As mammoth ivory is a porous material it can absorb oils from your skin, eventually turning a soft honey gold color. It is advised to handle carvings regularly to maintain their shine and to rinse them with cold water immediately if coloured liquids are accidently spilled on them.
