         The Jewel and the Jeweller welcomes Brooke Bass and her solo show, Heaps Of Dizzy, to our window gallery.

Working in acrylic, the artist offers up sloshed colour forms and vibrating print in small, pleasure-inducing portions. Created during a time of domestic confinement and recovery, these works explore the constant push and pull of the force of family, home and the outside world. Against the freefall of exhaustion and woozy states, the stacked compositions are shot through with hopeful colour and the fizz of energetic pattern. Each scene seems like a mingling of sensations held together in an imagined visual world. In these spaces, weak and wind-whipped bodies might rest in fresh moments of sunny calm.

Brooke holds a first-class honours degree in fine arts from Massey University college of creative arts in Poneke where she lives with her young family.
