Introduction to Intaglio Printmaking

Learn the process and explore some possibilities of intaglio printmaking with tutor MB Stoneman.

Create drypoint plates on perspex and aluminium using hand tools and dremel. Explore a range of techniques to make dynamic prints on the etching press. Techniques include shaped plates, chine colle, multi plate designs and colour rolls, using oil based inks and Fabriano etching paper. You will leave the workshop with 2x A5 sized perspex plates and prints made during the day.

Bring along an apron, lunch and your sketchbook.

MB Stoneman is a fine art printmaker living in Pātea, South Taranaki. Her work explores etching, relief and letterpress processes, often linking our natural world to the human condition. She is the Arts Co-ordinator for the local district council and co-owner of coffee shop/gallery The Bank Room in Pātea.

EVENT AFTERWARD: The gallery will be showing a selection of monotype prints from Stoneman’s recent series ‘the dark matters’ from 1 October. Join the artist for a mid-show event following the workshop at 3.00 - 4.30pm, Saturday 12 October 2019. Refreshments provided, all welcome.
